Very Interesting Native American Site
Besh-Ba-Gowah is an ancient Native American dwelling site located in Globe, Arizona, USA. Sitting on the top of a ridge overlooking the Pinal creek on the east edge of the city, Besh-Ba-Gowah is the site of a long lost Solado city. With over 200 rooms the city fortress was home to around 350 or more people for over 200 years starting in the 13th century. Today the site is owned and maintained by the city of Globe, Arizona. It is a public park and museum. The museum has a very nice display of the artifacts recovered from the restoration and research done at the location. There are some restored rooms set up with orginal style pottery and artifacts depicting the lifestyle of the inhabinets. The ruins are well worth a couple hours of your time if you are in the Phoenix area. The admission is a very modest $3.00 per person. |
