Riding A Chinese Built ATV
I ride a Chinese built quad. No, parts do not drop off every time I ride it in the desert. I haven't broken any thing on it yet. The little 250cc motor just keeps purring along. Admittedly, I am not a hard demanding rider. I don't take it over the jumps at 30 mph nor do I spend hours turning donuts in the dirt. I haven't tried to get it air borne at all. So what are these atvs that you see all over eBay or other internet sites? They are simple, a little crude, unsophisticated machines that cost about one fourth the amount of a name brand atv. You can still purchase one off the internet and have it delivered to your door in a large crate. It will be up to you do the final set up and assembly so if the thought of getting your hands greasy and doing a little wrenching makes you nervous, then perhaps you should consider a used name brand unit. If you need a local dealer to do repairs or set up, then these machines are not for you. The technology of these machines is about where the name brand atvs was in the late 1970's. Parts availability is getting better with several internet dealers offering more and more replacement parts. Still, atv forums abound with horror stories of endless waits for the correct part to be delivered. The atvs the chinese factories are turning out today are a great leap forward over the quality of just a couple of years ago. If you want a lot of fun for less money than even a 10 year old name brand atv, then take a look at the chinese built atv market. |
